Indicators of intravascular volume depletion

The most reliable clinical indicators of intravascular volume depletion are postural dizziness, postural rise in pulse rate >30/min, and postural fall in systolic blood pressure >20 mmHg.

Dry mouth, reduced skin turgor and sunken eyes are manifestations of dehydration (shortage of water, rather than reduction of intravascular volume).
