Steroids

Steroids bind to cytosolic receptors, which leads them to dimerize with translocation of the ligand–receptor complex to the nucleus. The response to receptor activation is mediated by specific binding of these complexes to promoter or enhancer elements of genes and modulation of gene transcription.
